- Austrian manufacturer of plastic mountaineering boots. Koflach was founded by a dedicated group of climbers in the Styria region of Austria in 1898. Their mission? To hand-produce crampons, boots and climbing equipment as a labor of love. Koflach was the first company to introduce plastic double boots, and they sell more than anyone else.

Vibram
- After a fatal accident in the Italian Alps in 1935, Vitale Bramani created an all-purpose climbing sole: lightweight, long-wearing and flexible. He developed rubber compounds with excellent ttraction and high abrasion resistance. He designed a new lug sole and called it Vibram, after his own name. Vibram soles have gone on to become a legend throughout the world. Look for the distinctive Vibram octagon with the Vibram name inside.
